Instructions on how to check for water in a float switch
1. Locate and Inspect the Float Switch:
The float switch is typically found near the indoor AC unit's drain pan and condensate line. It's a small white device with a float mechanism that moves up and down.
2. Visually inspect the switch for any signs of:
Damage: Cracks, broken parts, or loose connections.
Clogs: Debris or blockage around the float mechanism.
Water: If the float switch is submerged in water, it could indicate a clogged drain line.

Instructions on how to clear drain
1. Turn off the power to your AC unit at the thermostat and breaker box.
2. Locate the drain line
a. Usually, a PVC pipe connected to the air handler (indoor unit). It may have a cleanout port with a cap.
3. Remove debris.
a. Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove standing water and any visible debris from the drain pan and drain line.
4. Flush the Line:
Water: Pour warm water into the drain line to flush out any remaining debris.
Vinegar: Consider using a mixture of vinegar and water (equal parts) to help dissolve buildup. Pour it into the drain line and let it sit for about 30 minutes before flushing with water.
5. Check the Drain: Observe the drain line exit point to ensure the water is flowing freely after clearing the clog.
6. Test and Prevent: Turn the AC unit back on and check for proper drainage. To prevent future clogs, regularly clean the drain pan and change air filters.
Instructions on how to reset AC system
1. Turn the thermostat to the off position.
2. Turn the breakers off for the air conditioning for a minute or two.
3. Turn the breakers back on.
4. Turn thermostat back to cool/auto.
5. Check for cool air at the vent.
